1. Information We Collect
When you place an order through Chefaleh, we collect information you provide directly to us, including your name, email address, phone number, delivery address, and order details. We also collect information about your order preferences and delivery zone. Payment itself is handled directly between you and us (Venmo/Zelle/etc.) — we do not process or store card numbers.
2. Site Usage & Analytics Data
We measure how the site is used: which pages are viewed, how long, how far you scroll, which delivery zone gets detected for an address you type, and actions like adding an item to the cart or clicking a button. This uses no cookies and no third-party advertising or analytics network; a random identifier lives only in your browser's session storage and is gone once you close the tab. We do not sell or share this data with any third party.
Chefaleh delivers only within South Florida. Because of this, visitors browsing from the European Union, United Kingdom or European Economic Area are shown a notice instead of the site and are never measured at all. For everyone else, this analytics runs by default, the same way most first-party website analytics works — you can opt out at any time and we'll stop measuring your visits immediately; see our Cookie Policy for how.
If you go on to place an order, that same identifier is stored alongside the order so we can see which visit led to it — the only point at which this usage data becomes connected to who you are.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- — Process and fulfill your weekly Shabbat orders
- — Send order confirmations and delivery updates via email
- — Notify you of upcoming deadlines (Thursday 2:00 PM Miami time cutoff)
- — Improve our service and menu offerings
- — Comply with applicable legal obligations
4. Sharing of Information
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties, and analytics data never leaves our own database. We may share order information only as necessary to fulfill your order, or as required by law.
5. Cookies
The Chefaleh website does not use cookies. Your cart and a few preferences are kept in your browser's local storage so they survive between pages; analytics, described above, uses its own separate identifier. For full details, see our Cookie Policy.
6. Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. Order and analytics data is kept in an access-controlled database and is never publicly readable. Payment itself happens directly between you and us and is never stored on our servers.
7. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to provide our services and comply with legal obligations. Order history may be retained for up to three years for accounting and legal compliance purposes. Site usage data is kept only as long as it remains useful for understanding and improving the site.
8. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- — Access the personal information we hold about you
- — Request correction of inaccurate information
- — Request deletion of your data, subject to legal retention requirements
- — Opt out of site-usage analytics at any time, with no effect on placing an order
- — Opt out of marketing communications at any time
9. Contact Us
For any privacy-related questions or requests, please contact us at chefaleh@gmail.com. We will respond within 5 business days.
